New York City 2008

travel

My photos from a trip this month to New York City are posted over on Manufactured Fotos in the gallery New York City 2008. The photos don’t tell the whole story, but they show a few of the things we did and saw. Enjoy!

Open Source Christmas

travel

We saw the Christmas Pageant of Peace at the National Christmas Tree in Washington DC. DC is festive this time of year. We did our Christmas shopping there and had a good time of it. We hope your Holidays have likewise been pleasant. Santa put some choice musical selections into the Christmas stocking, such as The Crane Wife, Low-life, and even somewhat mysteriously Awake. Josh Groban’s Awake was unexpected, but I relished the track “Machine,” […]

bed jumping

travel

I drove a friend to the airport today. She’s off to NYC for a bit, and I should have sent a camera with her because this bed jumping site is cracking me up. It’s called the Hotel Bed Jumping HQ, and it’s over at bedjump.com. The concept is simple: people send in photos of themselves jumping on a hotel bed. The results are entertaining to be sure. There are lots of photo meme sites, but […]

Back from DC

travel

We’re back from our jaunt to Washington DC. Had a nice time on the beach in Ocean City, MD, watching the fireworks. I’m sifting through my photos and will post a few choice ones to the photography section in the next day or two. Oddly enough, a friend happened to be in DC at the same time quite unexpectedly. My girlfriend and I met him and his wife at Zed’s in Georgetown for Ethiopian along […]

Writing Maltese on the Web

travel

Here is a brief How-To for writing Maltese, the native language of Malta, on the Web. I had been searching for a synopsis of writing the Maltese language via a web page but in my search didn’t find what I was looking for, so I am sharing with you what I learned. This is intended for people who either don’t have access to a Maltese language keyboard or wish to encode the web pages with […]

Beware: A Tale of Sin

travel

Howdy, y'all. We’re all back safe and sound from the Austin trip. Took a few photos and might put one or two online when we get the time. Lest y'all think that the mighty Manufacturers have gone all soft with food and drink, I just wanted to point out that we mightily paid for our sins. This being then a tale of mortification of the flesh… There we sit by the slippery surface of the […]

All is cool in Austin

travel

We’re rocking out to some ancient Archers of Loaf track at the moment here on the 18th floor of some building in downtown Austin, Texas. Speaking of Archers of Loaf, we’ve been partaking of some of the great live music here. Our favorite so far is Ruthie Foster. Ruthie gave a great performance the other night. She’s somewhere between alt-country, folk, and r&b. Her music made us feel good. She’s got a bassist and a […]

Work & Play

travel

We’re here in the lobby of the downtown Austin Hilton. Texas has been warm and welcoming to us. We appreciate the southern hospitality. At any rate, this visit is a little bit of work and a little bit of play. Presently we’re focused on the work bit, but soon shall come play. If you’re in Austin, give us a call at the Hilton, and we’ll meet and drink some blogger coffee.
