The Freedom of Liberation
by Daniel R Stout

We’re holding court
in a booth
at the back of the tavern.
Friends listen closely,
and enemies even closer.
We two sit in opposition
to the many.
There is no other passage
through life except to reveal
ourselves in contrast to
prevailing wisdom.
The eight or nine or ten
gathered here soak sweetly
in our words.
Your sunshine and my thunder
carry the winds of change
into the minds of the willing.
Changing a mind is like
hopping a train that takes us
to destinations on a new course.
This night is but one among many
and we shall see many more, I hope
and we will blow apart the tatters
of this status quo
and live in the freedom of liberation.
