Maltese Cross It’s all a matter of timing: Apple releases Core 2 Duo MacBooks

Recently, Apple refreshed it’s Intel-line MacBook Pro laptops with the second generation Core 2 Duo chips. That meant that refreshed MacBooks (a less expensive line than the Pro models) couldn’t be far behind. I was surprised when a little over a week ago, Aprille said she had ordered a MacBook — with the first generation Core Duo chip.

With little fanfare or surprise, Apple announced yesterday the MacBook line had been refreshed with the Core 2 Duo processors, and they also doubled the amount of RAM.

Hey, Aprille, is it too late to return the MacBook and get a newer one? Just wondering.

Thanks for thinking of me. I actually have another week to decide if I want to return mine for an upgrade. I was kind of kicking myself; I guess I hadn't paid close enough attention to the rumors sites and everything. They'll exchange it for me, minus 10% because I've messed around with it.

I'm kind of leaning toward doing it.

Yeah, unfortunately Apple doesn't make any rumblings before they announce products so a lot of people have been in a similar situation as yourself. I suppose if they're going to charge you 10% to restock, it probably wouldn't be worth it, but still with technology it's fun sometimes to have the latest new thing too. Ultimately, that joy runs off in a month of two anyway when the next new thing comes out.

Here's a solution: give the MacBook to Denny and then order a new one for yourself. That works, right?!
