Maltese Cross SHORT & SWEET

The days have been falling fast and furious. May disappeared and a new month has dawned. It feels good to be done with classes — here in the world between worlds — the middle between academia and the real world — moving steadily from one to the other but with a foot in both. The job search is going very well. I’ll keep you posted if there’s news on that end.

I’ve been listening to this great French band lately called Bang Bang. They’re real slow and grooved. Very cool stuff. I picked it up on vinyl and the cover art is blissful — it’s a head shot of a woman in repose wearing this bright orange blazer with this huge bright-red motorcycle helmet on — shot against a vivid green background. It’s quite striking. I’ve noticed that the powers-that-be have been reissuing some classic albums on vinyl. It’s been quite a nice surprise to go down to the local vinyl shop and see what’s new and what’s new yet old.

Ultimately though my ears have been turning away from modern music these past few months. Besides Bang Bang I’ve been listening to unlimited hours of Chopin, Shostakovich, Fitkin and others. Quite blissful. It’s put me in a really good mood listening to all of that really great music. No, really!

Another day gone by. Friday disappeared without a trace. Here we are — 5 days away from an auspicious occasion: my birthday. That’s right folks! I will be turning … well, that’s for me to know and you to guess. Here’s a contest: the person who guesses my to-be age and also what time of day I was born will win a special fishthing.net prize. Email all entries to me.

Well, time to run. Hope life is delivering those good days for ya!
